THE THURIFER

The thurifer or censer is the incense burner and purifies the temple with Air and with Fire. Symbolically, it is depicted in orange to point to its place in the zodiacal southeast. This weapon is traditionally aligned with Path 28 on the Tree of Life. So purifying a temple adds two of the four-fold elemental cleansing.

Together with the asperge, the thurifer purifies the temple by all four elements. The four-fold elemental sealing combines with the three-fold sealing of the Lesser Pentagram to create the seven-fold enclosure. Once again, this is Cheth, Key 7, the enclosure. The temple then becomes the vehiculum of the Spirit, the field of operation of the Magnum Opus.
